Debt is nothing but a promise
Three embossing machines are left at the disposal of the public for them to use on their own bank notes. Each machine prints the same sentence but in a different language (German, French or Greek), using the official European Commission font, embossing the following words in the thickness of the paper: “La dette n’est qu’une promesse” (debt is nothing but a promise).
