Les parties prenantes

2020

Score (from scores for work series)

Les parties prenantes (The Stakeholders) is a score designed for professional meetings, organized inside or outside the structure that activates it. It is interested in the relationships of affect, real or supposed, between the people present and their influence on the individuality of each person, but also on the oratory positions adopted in the speeches and, more widely, on the outcome of the meeting in question. A meeting must necessarily involve at least one person outside the salaried team of the structure in question in order to give rise to an activation: partners, sponsors, elected officials, board of administration, etc.

The activation can be carried out by one or more participants. Only the members of the salaried team perform the activation, informing or not informing the other participants in the meeting of the performance.

The arrows in each figure indicate the movements to be carried out by the participant(s), so that the whole of the movements carried out during the performance ultimately draw the interpreted graphic form. If there are no arrows, the lines and curves of the graphic forms represent the movements to be made. In the case of a group activation, the movements can be divided among the participants.

Each graphic shape of the chosen figure that includes an empty space is annotated, using one of the initials from the typology below. Only one initial may be written per empty space. When the graphics include letters or numbers, an initial is associated with each sign.

Once completed, these forms prescribe the oratory position adopted by the person in his or her speech and exchanges at that specific place. The oratory position adopted is thus a function of the person’s location at the time he or she speaks and is bound to evolve throughout the meeting according to the movements made.

R = representation, i.e., the way in which the person shows up and expresses him/herself with regard to his/her own function in the team.

D = designation, i.e., the way the person thinks that the person or persons outside the team participating in the meeting perceive him/her.

A-P = self-perception, i.e. the way in which the person feels and thinks about him/herself outside the social injunctions of representation and designation.

These three positions, which participate in the construction of any identity, are in fact often intertwined in daily life. It is not easy to distinguish between them in practice and in the articulation of one’s own discourse, but it is appropriate in the context of this activation to try to separate them as much as possible. When circumstances allow, participants can, when preparing the score, reflect on the attitudes and modes of discourse implied by the different oratory positions to be adopted, taking into account the impact of the other people present at the future meeting.

(Excerpt from the text of the score)

The score consists of twelve charts, called figures, presented on separate pages. Only one figure is used per meeting. The entire page represents the space in which the meeting takes place, while the location of the graphic on the page and the proportion it occupies correspond to the inscription and spatial deployment of the performance in that same space.
