Politique des transpositions

The project Politique des transpositions was developed during an artist residency in La Becque, Switzerland, during the summer of 2019. Working on the tension between statistical representations of minorities and the characteristics of the sound device of the Swiss national alert, it took three forms:

A performance (September 12, 2019 at the Bourg, Lausanne): sonification of the statistics established by the population service of the municipality of Renens on the so-called foreign populations residing there; whispers by a group of performers hidden in the audience of sentences constructed from the national security instructions throughout the evening.

A graphic score: A1 poster made from statistics, country by country, of all the so-called foreign populations living in Renens.

A sound installation (censored): implementation of a multi-speakers device in the public space of the city of Renens aiming at playing for 1 minute, 10 times over a period of 3 months, the basic sound of the Swiss siren, each time transformed according to the statistics on the so-called foreign populations residing in the city. This installation, initially planned for the period September-December 2019 in the framework of a partnership between the city of Renens and the association Sonorama, was censored by the municipality.
