In signal processing, white noise is “a random signal with a constant power spectral density.” In Tentative d’épuisement du bruit blanc (An Attempt at Running Out White Noise), each connection to the website randomly generates a sound frequency ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. This frequency is then added to the previous frequencies/connections, just as later frequencies/connections will add to it. The website’s activity thus is an endless process approaching the achievement of white noise – the one of our uses of the Internet.
Each line generated by a connection gives the following information: the date and hour of the connection; its geolocation; the associated frequency.
