Protocol:

For reciter and feedback. Variable duration.

The reciter reads a text, in a neutral tone, without interruption. This text is read into a microphone placed in front of him or her and transmitted through loudspeakers. It is a loop. It describes the electroacoustic chain in which this speech is taken, from the microphone in which the reciter speaks, to the loudspeakers that play this recording in the room where the person is, as well as the public present. With each new turn of the loop, the text goes further into the detailed description of each component, but also of the institutional, economic, political and social context of the so-called performance. At the same time, and since the beginning of the reading, a feedback is broadcast. At first inaudible, its dynamics increase as the reading progresses, gradually altering its understanding until it overwhelms it. The performance ends when the reading is finished. The feedback stops simultaneously and without fade-out. All lighting is also cut at the same time, plunging the space into darkness.

Activation:

First activation on October 20, 2021 at the Casino de Montbenon by Les Sirènes with Vincent Barras as narrator, for the LUFF (Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival). The text of the performance is published on this occasion in the collection Rip off/on by Van Dieren.
