Les intérêts

Les intérêts (Interests) is presented in the form of two video sequences made up of statistical curves compiled on the Mirador site (a multinational observatory with a critical stance) representing variations in the dividend yield of 64 multinationals over a period of 30 years. An animated film, with a frequency of 12 frames/second, the minimum frequency at which the brain can detect movement (phi phenomenon), is screened in the exhibition space. The second animation is installed as a screensaver on the office computers of employees at the BBB art centre in Toulouse, with, this time, curves that appear one after another in a slower, more contemplative sequencing, at 12 Hz. This frequency corresponds to that of Alpha waves emitted by the brain when at rest. After a period of inaction, the screensaver is activated and intrudes on the art centre team’s working rhythm.
